Phoenix Running - Manta Ray Run

Phoenix Running South Wales holds the Manta Ray Run at Parc Taf Bargoed, Rock UK Summit Centre, The Old Drift Mine, Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil CF46 6RD. The course is an out-and-back lap of 5.3 km (3.28 miles) through parkland that includes tarmac paths and about 0.5 miles of riverside trail. The overall lap has an elevation gain of 37 m.

This is a timed event with a seven hour time limit. Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish; the minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles). The event welcomes runners and walkers. Starts are staggered and the organiser operates flexible "rock up and run" start times; special start time requests may be considered depending on chosen distance.

Support at the event includes an aid station, same-day results, athlete profiles, digital bibs, and digital finishers certificates. Finishers receive a bespoke physical medal unless they choose the no medal entry option. Entry fees listed include affiliated and unaffiliated rates, and a lower price no medal entry is offered to reduce cost.

A 26.2 mile trail marathon near Bridgend on 23 May 2026 with mixed terrain, quarry and forestry sections, five feed stations and a GPX route. Entry was limited to 60 participants aged 18 or over.

A 5 km fell race near Pengenffordd in South Wales with about 320 m of climb and a route that requires navigational skills. Junior races are available from age 7 and the event is insured by the WFRA.
