Soulstice Mountain Trail Run
The Soulstice Mountain Trail Run takes place in the Kaibab National Forest at Government Prairie in Parks, Arizona. This event is organized by the Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association (NATRA) and serves as the Jackie Weintraub Memorial Trail Run. The race is organized by volunteers, with all proceeds benefiting local youth mentoring programs through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff.
Participants can choose from several trail distances across the National Forest terrain:
- 30K trail race
- 18K (11.2 miles) trail race
- 11 miles (Early Start option)
- 10K (6 miles) trail race
- 1K Kids Dash
The event follows a specific registration process due to a Forest Service permit limit of 200 runners. Registration opens on New Year's Eve, with an early bird period available through early January. If registration exceeds the permit limit by April 30th, a lottery system is implemented, though legacy runners are provided guaranteed entry if they register before this deadline.
The 30K event maintains a cutoff time of 4 hours and 30 minutes. In the event of severe weather on the scheduled race day, the event may be moved to the following day. Participants have the option to switch between the 10K, 18K, and 30K distances through their registration profile. A non-competitive early start is also available for the 10K and 18K courses.
