Slow and Dirty
Sturminster Newton, United Kingdom • 20 Dec 2026
History and Course Details
Slow and Dirty is a trail running event that follows the path of an old branch line running from Bath to Bournemouth through Dorset and Somerset. The name originates from the historic Somerset and Dorset railway line, abbreviated as the S & D. The route has a level profile and follows a hard surface along the former railway corridor, which reopened in 2013 as a multi-use leisure path.
The course covers approximately 19 km (11 miles) and is primarily flat with minimal inclines. It starts at Sturminster Newton and follows the River Stour valley. Participants pass through several villages and local landmarks, including the restored Shillingstone station and the Georgian town of Blandford. The path surface is designed to remain stable in various weather conditions.
