6 at the Springs

Six at the Springs is a six hour timed endurance event held in Poland, Maine. The event is organized by the race directors and Poland Parks & Rec and includes a youth entry category for ages 12 and under. Paid entries include an event shirt.

Competitors use a historically registered rail trail at Waterhouse Brook, at the base of Lower Range Pond. The course is a flat, four mile loop that runs to a turnaround in Mechanic Falls and returns across a scenic waterway to the start. The trail is described as wide and hard packed and passes multiple watersheds and a beaver pond.

As a timed event, the race records total mileage for each competitor and gives recognition for all distance covered. Participants may complete one loop or multiple loops during the six hour period; mileage can range from a single four mile lap upward. Prizes are awarded and the format supports training that focuses on accumulating distance over time.

The event also highlights local businesses and the town of Poland through the course and nearby community features. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
