Firebird Trail Races
Windham, United States • 22 Aug 2026
Event Overview
The Firebird Trail Races are held in Windham, Maine. The event features three distance options on trail courses: a 13-mile, a marathon (26.2 miles), and a 50K race.
The Course
The races use a technical 10-mile loop in the Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest, described as rugged with lots of rocks and roots on mostly single-track trails. All events start and finish at the Lowell Preserve at the Windham Fire Station. The 13-mile race consists of the 10-mile loop plus an additional 5K loop on trails in the East Windham Conservation Area. The 50K is three laps of the 10-mile loop, while the marathon is two laps of the 13-mile course layout. There is an overall time limit of 9 hours for all distances.
Aid & Logistics
There will be two aid stations: one at the start/finish and one at the 5-mile turnaround point. They will provide water, soda, chips, candy, and LMNT electrolyte drink mix. Drop bags can be left at either location. The course will be marked with high-visibility pin flags and directional signs.
Registration & Policies
The event describes itself as a grassroots race benefiting local trail systems. A portion of proceeds is donated to the trails. Participants are also asked to make a separate donation of at least $20 to a non-profit of their choice between specified dates and provide proof to confirm entry. No refunds are issued under any circumstances. Runners in the 50K or marathon may drop down to a lower distance on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
