Firebird Trail Races

Windham, United States • 22 Aug 2026

Event overview

Firebird Trail Races take place on August 22, 2026, with events starting and finishing in Lowell Preserve at the Windham Fire Station. Distances offered are:

  • 50K - three 10 mile loops
  • Marathon - twice around the 13M course
  • 13M - one 10 mile loop plus an additional 5k loop

Registration opens January 1, 2026. Entry requires a registration fee and a separate donation of at least $20 to a non-profit. The donation must be made between August 24, 2025 and August 21, 2026, and proof of the donation must be provided by August 20, 2026.

Course and support

The primary loop is a 10 mile route through Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest, with trails that are mostly single-track and contain rocks and roots. The 5k additional loop is in the East Windham Conservation Area. Two aid stations are provided: one at start/finish and one at the 5 mile turnaround. Aid stations will offer water, soda, chips, candy, and LMNT electrolyte mix. Volunteers will staff both stations. Drop bags may be left at one or both aid stations.

Rules, timing and awards

The 50K cut-off is 9 hours (approximately 17:42 min/mile pace); all distances must be completed within this time. No refunds are issued for the event; residual profits will be donated to a local land trust. Runners may drop down to a lower distance through race day if they notify a race director or start line volunteer before the start; mid-race drops are not eligible for lower-distance awards. Each participant receives a wood carved Firebird medal. Top non-binary, male and female finishers in each distance receive awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
