Firebird Trail Races - Windham, ME
Firebird Trail Races take place on August 22, 2026 in Windham, Maine. The event is organized by The Grind Run Company and offers multiple trail distances on mostly single-track routes through Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest. All races start and finish in Lowell Preserve at the Windham Fire Station.
The courses use a 10 mile loop in Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest with additional loops as follows:
- 50K
- Marathon
- 13M
The 13M course combines the 10 mile loop with a separate 5k loop in the East Windham Conservation Area. The 50K is three 10 mile loops and the marathon follows the 13M course twice. Trails are technical with rocks and roots.
There will be two aid stations, located at the start/finish and at the five mile turnaround. Both stations will provide water, soda, chips, candy, and LMNT electrolyte mix. Volunteers will staff the stations and runners may leave drop bags at one or both locations.
Course markings include high visibility pin flags, LEFT RIGHT and WRONG WAY signs, and directional arrows with confidence flags on course. Each participant receives a wood carved Firebird medal and may purchase custom race swag. Top non-binary, male, and female finishers receive awards.
Participants are asked to donate at least $20 to a non-profit between 8.25.2025 and 8.21.2026 and provide proof by 8.21.2026 to confirm entry. The 50K overall cut off is 9 hours (17:42 min/mile pace). The event does not issue refunds. Runners may drop to a lower distance through the day of the race following organizer notification; mid-race drop downs are not eligible for lower distance awards. A pregnancy deferral is offered.
