Firebird Trail Races
Firebird Trail Races take place in Windham, ME, with venue points at Lowell Preserve and the Windham Fire Station. The event uses mostly single-track trails through Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest. The 10 mile loop is technical, with rocks and roots on mostly single-track trails.
The event offers these distance options:
- 13M: one 10 mile loop plus an additional 5k loop in East Windham Conservation Area
- Marathon (26.2M): two laps of the 13M course
- 50K: three 10 mile loops in Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest
There will be two aid stations, one at the start/finish area and one at the five mile turnaround. Both stations will provide water, soda, chips, candy, and LMNT electrolyte drink mix. Volunteer staff will assist at both stations. Drop bags may be left at either or both aid stations.
The course will be marked with high-visibility pin flags, directional arrows, and LEFT RIGHT WRONG WAY signage; confidence flags indicate being on course. Each participant receives a wood carved Firebird medal; custom race swag is available for purchase. Top non-binary, male, and female finishers in each distance receive awards.
The event is hyper-local and donates a portion of proceeds to local trails. Participants must make a donation of at least $20 between 2025-08-25 and 2026-08-21 and provide proof by 2026-08-21. Registration closes on Wed, Aug 19 at 11:59PM ET. No refunds are issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
