Firebird Trail Races

Firebird Trail Races take place in Falmouth, Maine on August 22, 2026, and offer three distance options. The event is organized on donations and includes technical trail terrain through local preserves and community forests. The course uses mostly single track with notable rocks and roots.

The core loop is a roughly 10 mile circuit through Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest. A separate 5k loop in East Windham Conservation Area trails is used as an add-on for some distances. All events start and finish in Lowell Preserve at the Windham Fire Station.

Distances and course structure:

  • 13 mile one loop in Lowell Preserve plus 5k loop in East Windham
  • Marathon two loops of the 13 mile course
  • 50K three loops in Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth plus 5k loop

Entry requires a donation to a nonprofit of the entrant's choice made within the year before the race and a submitted receipt to confirm entry. The organizers request donations of at least $40 and require a minimum donation of $20, in addition to registration fees. The 2026 event received grant funding from the Maine Sports Commission.
