Firebird Trail Races : Windham, Maine

Firebird Trail Races offers three trail distances centered on a 10 mile loop through Lowell Preserve and the North Falmouth Community Forest. The loop is mostly single-track and includes many rocks and roots; the 13M adds a 5k loop in the East Windham Conservation Area. All events start and finish in Lowell Preserve at the Windham Fire Station.

Distances

  • 13M one 10 mile loop plus 5k loop
  • Marathon two iterations of the 13M course
  • 50K three 10 mile loops plus a 5k loop

Two aid stations serve the course: one at the start/finish and one at the 5 mile turnaround. Both stations will offer water, soda, chips, candy, and LMNT electrolyte mix. Volunteer personnel will staff both locations and runners may leave drop bags at either station.

The course will be marked with high-visibility pin flags, directional arrows, and signs labeled LEFT, RIGHT, and WRONG WAY; confidence flags will indicate when runners are on course.

Each participant receives a wood carved Firebird medal; top non-binary, male, and female finishers in each distance receive awards. The 50K has an overall cut-off equivalent to a 17:42 minute per mile pace. This is a grassroots event; management will not issue refunds and residual profits will be donated to a local land trust. Participants must provide proof of a personal donation to a nonprofit within the specified donation period and meet the minimum donation requirement.
