Shortest Night Trail Run
The event is a night trail relay held at 2 Forever Lane in Paradise, PA. Teams run repeated loops on a marked course during a timed period of 3 hours and 24 minutes. The race takes place after sunset and participants should plan for running in the dark.
Teams must supply a baton to exchange during transitions. Loop completion is tracked by collecting a glow ring from a bucket on each circuit and bringing it back to camp. Headlamps are recommended to improve visibility and pace on the trail.
The course layout is described as follows:
- 2 mile course made of two 1 mile loops
- Pro teams run one 1.5 mile loop and one 1 mile loop
Five entry categories are accepted: three person male, three person coed, three person female, solo, and an all night category that is organized separately. Coed teams will be placed together in the amateur loops and run in two flights. Amateur teams typically average about 9 to 12 minute miles on the trails; trail pacing is generally slower than road pacing. Organizers may combine categories if needed.
Registration is handled on race night through a team captain who provides final team details. Entry fees are payable in cash on race day and are redistributed as cash prizes. Campfire food and drinks are provided and there is space available for camping near the meadow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
