Event Details

The Run For the Ages Trail Chase is a 10 km trail race held annually in Nolde Forest in Reading, Pennsylvania. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Friends of Nolde Forest, a non-profit group that helps maintain the forest.

Unique Start Format

This event features an age-graded start, where participants receive a head start based on their age and gender. The start time is staggered, with the oldest female wave typically beginning first, followed by subsequent waves based on five-year age groups. The start order alternates between sexes based on handicaps derived from the World Masters Association. The goal of this format is for top finishers from many different waves to finish at nearly the same time.

Course and Logistics

The race is run on trails described as challenging yet very runnable. The course is located at the Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center on 2910 New Holland Rd. Online registration is available, with a fee of $30 until a specified date, after which it increases to $35. The event has a capacity of 250 entries.
