Sewanee Slammer
Sewanee Slammer is a 20 mile loop race on the Perimeter Trail around the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. The course runs atop the bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau and passes overlooks, geologic features, lakes and ponds, and upland deciduous forest.
The start and finish are at the Mountain Goat Visitor Center in Sewanee Village, and the route runs clockwise around the Perimeter Trail. Parking is available at the Visitor Center and on the grassy areas behind it. There are three aid stations located at miles 5.3, 10.5, and 14.06.
Registration pricing is tiered: $85 through September 30 and $95 after September 30, both amounts listed without taxes and fees. Registration closes on October 15. Race shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by September 27; shirts are unisex cotton blend tees. Packet pickup is offered early at Shenanigans in Sewanee on the Friday before the race and at the start finish location on race day.
Ten percent of race proceeds will be given to the Perimeter Trail Fund. During registration there is also an option to donate to Move! Music City, a local 501(c)(3); donations to that organization are tax deductible. Event partners include HOKA, Feetures, and Huma, and swag will be awarded to winners. A trail map is available for the Perimeter Trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
