Fiery Gizzard Run
The Fiery Gizzard Run is a trail event at Foster Falls State Park in Sequatchie, Tennessee. The event offers multiple distances on the Fiery Gizzard Trail, which includes waterfalls, rock formations and ridge-line overlooks. The route mixes runnable ridge sections with steep, technical descents into gorges; some sections require careful footing. Full course details will be emailed about one week before race day.
Location and organizer: Foster Falls Trailhead at 498 Foster Falls Rd, Sequatchie, TN. The event is organized by HardWin Adventures and the field is limited to 175 runners as required by park officials.
Distances:
- Marathon distance on the Fiery Gizzard Trail
- Half marathon traverse from Grundy Forest Trailhead to Foster Falls
- Ruck Only 13 miles
Pre-race and race details: Marathon runners start and finish at the Foster Falls Trailhead. Half marathon runners traverse from Grundy to Foster Falls and have check-in options at either Foster Falls or Grundy; passenger vans will shuttle runners from the Foster Falls finish back to Grundy to retrieve vehicles. All runners must secure their RFID chip to the left ankle and ensure bib and chip numbers match.
Aid and safety: Aid stations are spaced farther apart than typical events, with roughly 6-8 miles between stations; runners should carry sufficient water and nutrition. There is no dedicated medical staff on course beyond basic first-aid support in the field. In the event of a rescue, participants will incur associated costs.
Rucking division: Ruck participants carry specified dry weights based on body weight and must weigh in before the race start; no weigh-in means no patch. Race shirts and other swag are not included in the entry fee but may be added during registration. Awards include a custom HardWin finisher award for all finishers and additional awards for top male and top female finishers in each distance.
