Fiery Gizzard Run at Foster Falls State Park

The Fiery Gizzard Run is a trail event held on November 28, 2026 at Foster Falls State Park in Tennessee. It offers the following distance options:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • Ruck Only (13 miles)

The course uses the Fiery Gizzard Trail, listed among the Top 25 Trails in the U.S., and includes waterfalls, rock formations, and ridge-line overlooks. Much of the route is runnable ridge-line, but runners also encounter steep, technical descents into gorges. Full course details will be emailed approximately one week before race day and participants should follow instructions from the Race Director at the start.

The marathon is an out-and-back between Foster Falls Trailhead and the Grundy Forest Trailhead; the half marathon is a single traverse from Grundy to Foster Falls. Aid stations are limited by trail access and may be spaced about 6 to 8 miles apart. Field capacity is 175 runners as regulated by park officials.

All runners receive a custom Hardwin finisher award. Additional awards are given to the top male and female finishers in both distances. Race shirts and other swag are not included in the entry fee but may be added during registration.

The event includes a Rucking Division with weight requirements based on body weight. Weights must be verifiable and may be checked; participants may not remove or reduce weight during the event. Medical resources are limited to basic first aid in the field and runners are responsible for rescue costs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
