Search For Santa - event overview
Search For Santa takes place on 17 December 2025 and covers 6 Miles (Measured by Sleigh). It is a self-navigation trail race held at night. Participants receive a written route description on the day; there are no course markings, marshals or GPX files. The event is not a mass start. Competitors will be timed out and back in at the finish. The route includes a secret destination with a cryptic clue that can earn time bonuses and a refreshment stop. Along the course participants will look for Santas and other items, including chocolate. Prizes may be awarded for quirky dress, behaviour and sense of humour. Race headquarters is at The Compasses, Littley Green.
Entry, rules and practical information
Entry fees are £11 affiliated and £13 unaffiliated, plus a 50p booking fee. Entry includes two £3 vouchers. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies for each sign-up. The closing date for entries is 16 December 2025 at 12:00. There are no refunds. It is possible to enter more than once to enable friends to run together, but organisers require full details for additional entrants (emergency contact, a mobile phone to be carried on the day, email and confirmation of agreed terms) before the closing date. As a night trail, participants must wear hi viz clothing, carry a head torch or torch, and carry a mobile phone. Results will be posted on www.essextrailevents.com.
