Scarface Mountain Trail Run

Scarface Mountain Trail Run takes place on January 9, 2027 at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona. The event uses the park trails and staging area and is organized as a set of trail races and a short fun run.

The event offers these distances:

  • 20k trail run
  • 10k trail run
  • 5k trail run (3.35 miles)
  • 1 mile fun run

All registration fees will be donated to charity, split evenly between Mesa United Way Foster360 and the Charitable Foundation of the Rotary Club of Mesa. Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, January 8, with the pickup location to be announced.

Prizes are planned for top finishers in the timed distances and trophies will be awarded to top three finishers in each category. All entrants receive a race shirt at packet pickup. All finishers will receive a pint glass with the race logo and a finish line photo with an option to purchase additional photos.

The event includes a costume contest called the Cowboy Outlaw Runner Costume Contest in reference to the park's local Wild West history. The course passes historic park trails where, in 1892, two men reportedly hid the spoils of a stagecoach robbery on land that is now part of the regional park.
