The Sawmill Trail Runs is the Human Potential Running Series event at Staunton State Park in Pine, CO, held on December 6, 2025. This is the 8th annual running of the event; it began as an informal "Fat Ass" in 2013, became an official trail race in 2017, and moved to Staunton State Park in 2021. The race uses the Ranch Hand Group Picnic Area as the start/finish location.

The 50k has a 12-hour time limit. The 8-Mile and 16-Mile courses have an 11-hour time limit. Combined runner capacity for all distances is 250.
Logistics and rules
Staunton State Park elevations range from about 8,100 ft to over 10,000 ft; the event takes place at roughly 8,000 ft and higher. Park permits are in place for the event. Parking inside the park is limited; most participants are required to park off-site at a park-and-ride and use a volunteer-run shuttle. All vehicles parking in the park must have a state park pass. Spectators are permitted only at the start/finish area and must pay any applicable park entry fees. Crews and pacers are prohibited.
Aid stations are described as well stocked. Included items listed for participants are a gender-specific race shirt and a finisher's medal. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish area only and will be disposed of if abandoned. Traction devices such as micro-spikes are allowed when conditions permit; snowshoes are permitted if snow depth exceeds 6". If the 50k first loop becomes unsafe in deep snow, 50k entrants may be asked to run the 16-Mile course twice. Awards include a unique finisher's award, DFL and other special awards; there are no podium or age-group awards and awards will not be mailed. Volunteers earn HPRS credits for service.
