Castle Rock Trail Festival / liveBIG Run

The Castle Rock Trail Festival takes place on the town ridgeline trail system and uses trails in Philip S. Miller Park and Ridgeline Open Space. The event offers multiple course options and a family obstacle run for children.

Event features for participants include an event T-shirt and finisher’s medal, professional chip timing with a disposable bib chip, and free photo downloads after the event. Aid stations will provide bottled water and basic first aid; selected aid stations will also offer electrolytes. Finish line beverages include water, Gatorade and beer.

The 50K ultramarathon has an eight hour time limit. A drop bag tent is available near the start of the second loop, close to the finish area, for competitors in longer races. Awards are presented for overall male and female finishers and for age group placings in races 5K and up.

The course reaches a high point of 6,700 feet. Weather can vary in early October and trails may be wet or muddy. Wildlife such as rabbits, prairie dogs, deer, fox, coyote and birds may be encountered on the open space trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Farish Trail Race at Farish Recreation Area in Woodland Park, Colorado offers a half marathon, 10K, 5K and a free 1 mile kids run. Awards go to the top three men and women and the first 200 finishers get a race hat.
