The Safari Sprint - North

The Safari Sprint - North is scheduled for Sunday 17 January 2027 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham. The event is a trail run held along a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and the course is fully signed.

This is a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose their own distance. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be altered to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap. Laps required: 3 for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon, 7 or more for an ultra. A 50 km option is also available.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed animal medal. Distance pins are awarded for half marathon and longer distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option available on request. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start and finish of each lap with snacks and vegan choices. Toilets and changing facilities are available; a bag drop is provided but is not staffed and items are left at the participant's own risk. There is pay and display parking in the city centre and nearby streets and participants must not use the rowing club car park.
