The Bowes Loop Half (Pennine trail)
The event is a trail half marathon held around Bowes on the Pennine Way. The route passes Bowes Castle, follows the Pennine Way over God's Bridge and across Bowes Moor toward Blackton Reservoir, then loops back past Goldsborough Carr and over Deepdale Beck to finish at Bowes. The route includes dirt tracks, fields, a stream crossing, tree roots, boggy sections and a mile long road finish.
Race administration and bag drop are at Bowes & Gilmonby Village Hall. Toilets are available at the village hall. Parking is available at the village hall but is limited.
Entrants must be at least 17 years old. The entry fee is £24. The organiser is Ruined Running Events Ltd. Water and snacks are provided at a checkpoint on-route and at the finish, and first aid provision is included. A race memento and event photos are provided.
Mandatory minimum kit includes a packable waterproof jacket and trousers, bivvy bag, a marked map, a fully charged mobile with the organiser's contact details, hat, gloves and at least 500 ml of water. A whistle and compass are recommended. Spot kit checks will be performed. To reduce environmental impact, no disposable cups or event water bottles will be supplied; participants should bring a reusable bottle.
Runners are asked not to deviate from the marked route where it crosses former RAF land and to follow on-course signage at all times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
