The Snow Globe Gallop Bobble Hat Run is a timed endurance event scheduled for December 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. It is organised as a 7-hour Time Challenge in which participants choose how many laps to complete within the time limit. Walkers are permitted. Final race instructions are sent by email 7-10 days before the event and race numbers are collected on the day at registration.

Distances and course

  • 3 km minimum distance (part of a lap)
  • 7 km full lap (4.37 miles), loop length may change to 3.28 miles depending on conditions
  • 3 laps = half marathon; 6 laps = marathon; 7+ laps = ultra; 50 km option available
    The course is a signed trail route along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. The lap includes a 3k turn point and a 5k turn point for UK Athletics age compliance.

Facilities and services

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon and longer achievements. A goody bag is provided to finishers, with a vegan option. There is an aid and drinks table at the start/finish of each lap offering drinks and snacks, including vegan choices. Race HQ has toilets and changing facilities; bag drop is available but unstaffed and items are left at the participant’s responsibility.
