Santa Run Wales

Santa Run Wales is a festive themed event held at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare. The run takes place on a route consisting of well-maintained footpaths and public trails, offering views of the surrounding countryside. This family-orientated event focuses on a festive atmosphere rather than competitive times, and participants are welcome to run, walk, or dance their way through the course.

The event offers two specific distance options:

  • 2.5 km (one lap)
  • 5 km (two laps)

Participants are encouraged to wear festive costumes such as Santa suits, reindeer antlers, or elf ears, with prizes available for creative fancy dress. Every runner who completes at least one lap receives a Christmas-themed medal and a goody bag. An aid station located at the start and finish area provides water, sweets, and mince pies.

The venue features free on-site parking and public toilets, though there are no dedicated changing rooms or showers. A cafe serving hot food and drinks is located near the race headquarters. Bone-conducting headphones are the only type of headwear allowed for those who wish to listen to music while running. Race numbers are collected on the day of the event at the registration desk.
