Event Details

This is the Smurf Run event in Wales, organized by Saturn Running. It takes place at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare. The event format is a 7-hour "Time Challenge," where participants can choose their own distance by completing laps within the time limit.

Course

The course is set within Dare Valley Country Park on well-maintained paths. The main lap is approximately 4.37 miles (7 km), though this is subject to change based on conditions. There are turn points within the lap for 3 km and 5 km distances. The route offers views of the surrounding countryside.

Distances

Participants can complete as many laps as they wish within the 7-hour window, subject to age restrictions. The minimum distance to be an official finisher is 3 km. Common distance benchmarks include:

• 3 laps for a half marathon
• 6 laps for a marathon
• 7 or more laps for an ultra marathon A specific 50 km distance is also available.

What's Included

All finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Those completing a half-marathon distance or more receive an additional distance pin (Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km, or Ultra). Every finisher gets a goody bag, with a vegan option available. An aid station at the start/finish area provides drinks, snacks (crisps, fruit, cookies), and ice cream.

Venue & Logistics

The venue offers toilets and a cafe serving hot drinks and food. Free parking is available. There is an informal bag drop area, but it is not secure. Race numbers are collected on the day at registration. Only bone-conducting headphones are permitted. The event is held on public footpaths.
