Route, safety and logistics

The route follows National Cycle Route 8 for the full distance, starting at the River Wye Activity Centre, Glasbury, and finishing at Travelodge Merthyr Tydfil. Check-points are sited along the route (example mileages given at about 8.6, 17.2, 28.1 and finish at 39.7 miles). Organisers set cut-offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup.
