Cymoedd Sir Fynwy is a long-distance walking and running event organized by the South Wales LDWA. It is described as the toughest 50-mile event on the LDWA calendar. The event explores the Black Mountains and the World Heritage Site of the Forgotten Landscape above Blaenavon.
Distances and Entry
The event offers three distances:
- 50 miles
- 30 miles
- 20 miles
Entry fees vary depending on distance and LDWA membership status. Entries open on October 1, 2025, and close on March 31, 2026. There are participant limits for each distance: 135 for the 50-mile, 50 for the 30-mile, and 65 for the 20-mile event.
Course and Location
The route includes sections from the cancelled Y 100 Sir Fynwy and the classic Valleys 100 route. It features climbs in the Black Mountains such as Deri, Loxidge Tump, and Skirrid, passing through Cwmyoy, Llanthony, and Pandy. The course also ventures into Blaenavon’s World Heritage landscape and Coity Mountain, finishing along the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal.
The event starts and finishes at The Girl Guide Hall in Abergavenny. A free car park is available half a mile away at Byfield Lane Car Park.
Schedule and Time Limits
The event takes place from Saturday, April 18, to Sunday, April 19, 2026. Walkers start at 10:00, with fast walkers and runners starting at 11:00. Specific time limits apply: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
- The 50-mile event must be finished by 10:00 on Sunday.
- The 30-mile event must be finished by 23:59 on Saturday.
- The 20-mile event must be finished by 19:00 on Saturday.
