Cymoedd Sir Fynwy
Cymoedd Sir Fynwy is an endurance event organized by the South Wales LDWA. Taking place in Abergavenny, the event utilizes the Girl Guide Hall as its central location. The course traverses the heart of the Black Mountains and the World Heritage Site of the Forgotten Landscape above Blaenavon. Participants navigate diverse terrain, including segments from the classic Valleys 100 route.
The routes include significant elevation changes with climbs across several landmarks such as Deri, Loxidge Tump, and Skirrid. The paths lead through Cwmyoy, Llanthony, and Pandy. The final sections of the courses pass through the industrial heritage landscape of Coity Mountain and conclude along the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 50 miles
- 30 miles
- 20 miles
Each distance has a specific entry limit and time requirement. The 50 mile route is limited to 135 entrants, the 30 mile route to 50 entrants, and the 20 mile route to 65 entrants. While the event is based at the Girl Guide Hall in Fairfield Car Park, free parking is provided for participants at the Byfield Lane Car Park on Tudor Street, located approximately half a mile from the primary venue. Registration is open to both LDWA members and non-members, with varying fee structures for each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
