Saturn Running - Cwmdare

Overview

This event, themed around the 50th anniversary of the Rocky film, is a 7-hour Time Challenge at Dare Valley Country Park in Wales. Participants can choose their own distance, running as many laps as they wish within the time limit. A finisher's medal themed on the film is awarded for completing a minimum of 3 km.

Course and Distances

The route takes place on well-maintained footpaths within Dare Valley Country Park, with views of the surrounding countryside. Distances are achieved by running laps of either 4.37 miles (7 km) or a possible 3.28-mile loop, subject to conditions. Within a lap, there are 3 km and 5 km turn points to accommodate younger runners. Common lap totals are:

• 3 laps for a half marathon
• 6 laps for a marathon
• 7+ laps for an ultra marathon

A dedicated 50 km distance is also available.

Event Information

All finishers receive a goody bag, with a vegan option available. An aid table at the start/finish area offers drinks, snacks (crisps, cheese, fruit, cookies), and ice cream, including vegan options. Distance pins (Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km, Ultra) are given to those completing a half-marathon or more.

The venue provides toilets and free parking, plus a cafe serving hot drinks and food. There is a non-secure bag drop area. Only bone-conducting headphones are permitted. Race instructions are emailed the week before the event, and number collection is on race day. A special running number is provided for milestone runs (e.g., 50th, 100th event).

Entry prices start at £18.00 for a 3 km distance and go up to £35.00 for longer events. A lower member price of £22.00 is available for most distances. Age restrictions apply, ranging from 12+ for 5 km to 20+ for the 50 km distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
