Cosmeston Relays

The Cosmeston Relays is a chip-timed baton relay race held in the setting of Cosmeston Lakes Country Park. Organized by Penarth and Dinas Runners, the event has been recognized as the Welsh Athletics/Run Wales Event of the Year for 2025. The competition is designed for teams of three, with a total capacity of 250 teams across various categories.

The course consists of an undulating circuit of approximately 3 miles. Each participant runs one full circuit before passing the baton to the next teammate. The race is licenced by Welsh Athletics and is open to runners aged 18 and over. A total team time limit of 1 hour 45 minutes is in place to complete the race.

The event features 12 distinct prize categories for men's, women's, and mixed teams:

  • Senior teams (under 35)
  • Masters 35-44
  • Masters 45-54
  • Masters 55 and over

A team's specific age category is determined by the age of its youngest runner. Every participant can only run once and represent a single team. Registration typically includes free race photography.

The race takes place in the Vale of Glamorgan. Participants must manage team changes or entry transfers via an online self-service link before the deadline, which is 48 hours prior to the event. No on-the-day changes are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
