Purdown Pursuit
Purdown Pursuit is a 10 km trail running race around Stoke Park in Stapleton, Bristol, organised by Town and Country Harriers. The event donates 50% of proceeds to a local charity. Minimum entry age is 18.
The course is fully marked and staffed by numerous marshals. The route has been changed from previous years and a GPX file is available for those who wish to recce it. Organisers note that the ground can be hard with tree roots and rocks, and that the course includes steep climbs; they also advise runners to carry water in warm conditions and to wear suitable trail shoes.
Race categories have been updated to align with England Athletics eligibility. The male category is now an Open category that includes male and non binary entrants. The Female category excludes transgender women unless they have approval from England Athletics. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Open and Female categories and for first V40, V50, V60 and V70 plus in both Open and Female categories. Spot prizes may also be given.
Parking is available at Snuff Mills car park, River View, Stapleton, which is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the race HQ on Countess Walk. Buses 46 and 50 from Bristol city centre serve stops within a similar walking distance. Organisers ask runners to avoid parking on Countess Walk and nearby roads to reduce impact on local residents.
Event rules note that earbuds or headphones are discouraged; if worn they must be removed at marshalled road crossings or runners risk disqualification. Deliberate short cutting of the course may be penalised at the Race Director's discretion. Guide runners are welcome but must register; guide runners are not eligible for prizes. A full refund is offered to runners who notify organisers of pregnancy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
