The Smurf Run - Wales is organised by Saturn Too Limited and takes place at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare. The next scheduled race date is 22/11/2025. The event is a 7-hour time challenge that lets participants choose how many laps to run within that period. The regular course may be adjusted close to the event after a health and safety review.
Distances
- 3 km minimum (part of a lap)
- 7 km / 4.37 miles per full lap (may change to 3.28 miles)
- 3 laps equals a half marathon
- 6 laps equals a marathon
- 7+ laps qualifies as an ultra; 50 km option available
Course
The route runs around Dare Valley Country Park on maintained footpaths with views of the surrounding countryside. There are internal 3k and 5k turn points within the lap to allow compliance with UK Athletics age rules.
Facilities and services
Toilets and a cafe are available at race HQ. Free parking is provided at the venue. There is a drinks and aid table at the start/finish of each lap offering drinks and snacks, including vegan options. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag is also available.
Entry, finishers and rules
A reduced entry price of £22.00 is available to members; membership includes guaranteed entry and a mini-me medal pin at each event. Smurf-themed medals have sold out; entrants from 17 November will choose from a selection of previous race medals. Bone-conducting headphones only are permitted.
