Saturn 7 Hour Time Challenge - Gilesgate

Event details

The event takes place on Sunday, 6 December 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. It is a 7 hour timed challenge that allows participants to choose how many laps to run. Minimum distance is 3 km. Entries close on 05/12/2026 and the event is limited to 300 entrants. Minimum age is 12 years. Anyone wishing to run over 45 km must be 20 years or older; 18 and 19 year olds may run up to 45 km. Number pick up is on the day at race registration. Transfers are allowed online for £2.50 up to the day before the event; later deferral to another event is available for a fee of £18. Entry fees listed are Affiliated £32.00 and Unattached £34.00.

• 3 km minimum
• 7 km lap (4.37 miles) - may change to 3.28 mile loop
• Half marathon = 3 laps
• Marathon = 6 laps
• Ultra = 7+ laps
• 50 km option available

Course and facilities

The course is a fully signed trail along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points on the lap. An aid table and drinks table are available at the start/finish of each lap with drinks and snacks, including vegan options. Finishers completing at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat; distance pins are issued for half-marathon and longer distances. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. A bag area is provided but it is not staffed and the organiser does not accept liability for lost items. Free on-street parking is nearby or pay and display city centre parking is available.
