The Saturn 7 Hour Time Challenge is a timed running event where participants have full control over the distance they wish to complete within the 7-hour window. The minimum distance to be an official finisher is 3 km.
Course Details
The event takes place along the River Wear in Durham, offering views of the Cathedral. The course is classified as a trail run and is fully signed, requiring no navigation. The standard lap distance is approximately 7 km (4.37 miles), but this may change to a 5.28 km (3.28 mile) loop depending on conditions. The course includes turn points for 3 km and 5 km distances.
Distances and Format
Participants can run as many laps as they wish. Common distance benchmarks include:
- Half Marathon: 3 laps
- Marathon: 6 laps
- Ultra Marathon: 7 or more laps
- 50 km: Also available
Age restrictions apply: runners aged 12-17 must adhere to UK Athletics distance rules (using the turn points). Runners aged 18-19 can run up to 45 km, and those 20 or older have no upper distance limit.
Included with Entry
All finishers completing at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat. Distance pins for Half Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km, and Ultra are awarded for corresponding achievements. A goody bag with snacks and drinks is provided at the finish, with a vegan option available. An aid station at the start/finish area offers drinks and snacks, including vegan choices.
Venue and Logistics
