San Juan Solstice 50 Mile

The San Juan Solstice 50 is a 50 mile mountain trail race held in Lake City, Colorado, scheduled for June 20, 2026. The event uses high alpine terrain and has a history of variable summer conditions, including snowfields and difficult creek crossings. The course has at times required route changes and additional safety measures when snow or water levels made sections hazardous.

Entry to the 2026 field was determined by lottery; the lottery closed with 300 runners and 285 on the waitlist, and registration closed on January 31, 2026. For live tracking, every runner is required to carry a tracker that has been registered with MAProgress. The tracker may be the runner’s own, borrowed, or rented; runners who rent from MAProgress receive printed instructions when checking in on the Friday before the race. Runners using their own or borrowed trackers must know how to operate them.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and must have completed a prior trail ultra run. The event notes that entrants should have extensive high mountain experience and be comfortable in an alpine environment where weather and route conditions can change quickly.
