Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races
Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races take place on urban and mountain trails above Salt Lake City and are organized by Open Range Races. The event offers multiple course options that use winding singletrack and provide expansive mountain and city views from the foothills.
Available distances include:
- 50 Miles
- 50K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 2K Family Loop
Course notes highlight significant elevation change: the 10K climbs about 1,200 feet, the half marathon climbs about 2,800 feet and is point-to-point, and the 50 Mile course gained 10,300 feet in its updated route. GPX files will be available for all distances and runners are encouraged to carry a device capable of GPX navigation.
Race logistics and services: there are no drop bags for any distance, and required kit includes a 2.5 L bladder and a headlamp with a full required-kit list provided in the race packet. Aid stations will supply water, Nuun hydration, basic snacks, and conventional ultra aid station food; runners with specific nutritional needs are advised to carry their own fuel. Poles are permitted in all distances; headphones are allowed with caution. Dogs are not allowed on course. There is a medal for all finishers. Registration opens August 6, 2026.
