Sale Fell Race

The Sale Fell Race is a fell running event held near Wythop Mill. The senior course is a Category BS race covering a distance of 5.9 km (3.7 miles) with 274 m (900 ft) of total ascent. The event base is located at the Sale Fell bench and includes multiple race options:

  • 5.9 km senior race open to runners aged 17 and older.
  • Junior races for age categories U9, U11, U13, and U15.

Participants in the senior race are required to carry specific safety equipment. This kit includes a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a hat, gloves, a map, a compass, and a whistle. The Race Organiser may adjust these requirements on the day of the event depending on conditions.

Prizes are awarded to winners in various age groups, including senior male and female categories, as well as veteran categories ranging from V40 to V80. Registration takes place at the local church. For those traveling by car, parking is available near the Pheasant Inn or at Peil Wyke, as parking near the church or the Sale Fell gate is prohibited.

An early season evening fell race from Rothay Park to Loughrigg summit and back, 6.4 km with 330 m ascent over a flagged out and back route. The event is full and new entries are placed on a waiting list.

Experience the landscape of the Lake District with trail races of 23 km and 53 km starting from Keswick. These chip timed events include themed medals and routes passing Derwent Water and Scafell Pike.
