Event Overview
Nuclear Rush is an obstacle course race situated on the Secret Nuclear Bunker Estate in Brentwood, Essex. The permanent course spans muddy farmland, woodlands, and lakes. Participants encounter a variety of natural and man-made obstacles, including the 20-foot Deathslide, a 15-lane zip-wire into water, and the Travelator.
The event features several distance options to accommodate different ages and objectives:
- Rush 6 km: Includes approximately 40 obstacles and is open to participants aged 13 and over.
- Rush 12 km: Features over 70 obstacles and is open to those aged 16 and over.
- Rush Oblivion Storm (38 km+): An endurance challenge for those aged 18 and over, requiring four laps of the 12 km course plus a functional fitness station.
- Rush Rookies (1.5 km or 3 km): Specialized courses for children and teenagers aged 4-14.
- Rush Family (1.5 km or 4 km): Courses designed for groups to complete together, with the 4 km option including the deathslide.
The event operates without a penalty system for the standard 6 km and 12 km runs, allowing participants to skip obstacles if they choose. All runners are chip-timed and receive a finishers medal and a digital photo. Facilities on-site include a free car park, bag drop, changing areas, and hot washdowns for after the race.
