Jackalope Trail Run

The Jackalope Trail Run is the second race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL (5105 Nolen Ave SE). The event offers two trail distances and is limited to 400 runners.

Course terrain includes bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, cola, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. The organizer operates the race as a cupless event; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase for $5 at checkout.

All participants in the Jackalope 4 Mile and 8 Mile receive a short sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a finisher award. The same shirt design is used across the Wild Thangs Trail Series. Age groups are 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ for all races.

Cutoffs are generally very loose to encourage participation, though a 17 minute per mile cutoff applies to Long Series participants. Packet pickup is handled through the RunningLane store (2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL) and packets may also be picked up the morning of the race.
