Firecracker 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

The Firecracker event takes place on July 4, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama, at Morningside Baptist Church near the Aldridge Creek Greenway. The organizer offers two running distances and related services on site.

The distances:

  • 5K - USATF-certified course
  • 1 Mile - certified point to point course, no turns, flat

The course begins at Morningside Church and runs out and back on the Aldridge Creek Greenway. There is one aid station on the course at the turnaround. Post-race food is provided by the church in the fellowship hall and finisher medals are awarded. Technical tanks are available for early registrations. Age-group awards are provided by Fleet Feet and Swift Recovery.

Packet pick-up is scheduled at Fleet Feet Huntsville on July 3 and race day packet pick-up is available at Morningside Church. Child care is provided by Morningside Baptist Church from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Registration details and fees are listed for each distance: the 5K registration opens January 1 and closes May 1 with a listed fee of $25, and the 1 Mile registration opens January 1 and closes July 3 with a listed fee of $20.
