Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K

The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail race held on 31 October 2026. The race starts and finishes at Berkhamsted Cricket Club and covers 50K with approximately 800 m of climb. The field is limited to 350 runners and the overall time limit is nine hours.

The route runs through Berkhamsted Common to Ashridge Estate, then joins The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (CP1). From Aldbury the Ridgeway continues for about 13 km to Wendover (CP2). Runners then follow the Chiltern Way on more single-track and woodland paths back through Ashridge, finishing with a downhill approach into Berkhamsted.

The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals assist at road crossings and busier sections. A GPX file and printed maps are provided for navigation. There are three full checkpoints plus a water point: Beacon Road water point at 11.9 km; Aldbury Sports Ground at 17.7 km; Runaway HQ Wendover at 30.8 km; Wigginton Village Hall at 41.4 km. Full checkpoints offer water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels and chews, snacks, flapjacks and fresh fruit.

The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Minimum age is 20 and dogs are not permitted. There is no parking at the venue; public car parks and a nearby train station provide access. Required kit includes a mobile phone with emergency number, route GPX or paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an additional dry layer, head torch and a refillable hydration system. Track-based running at Wodson Park in Ware, with distances from *5k* to a 6 hour challenge on a 400 metre athletics track, chip timing, aid stations, and on-track viewing for supporters.

A timed riverside event on a 5.3 km out and back Thames course where runners choose how many laps to complete within a seven hour limit. Ten pound entry supports the Rays of Sunshine charity and a double sided medal is awarded.

A 24-hour relay at Wasing Park, Reading on 6–7 June 2026 with Solo, Pair, and Team entries on an 8 km trail lap, event camping and an event village, plus charity entry options and tiered team pricing.
