The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail ultramarathon held on 31 October 2026, returning for a third edition. The route covers a 50K distance with about 800 m of elevation gain, starting and finishing at Berkhamsted Cricket Club and running on trails in the Chilterns. The event is listed on the UTMB World Series index and will be licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UKA rules.

The course begins across Berkhamsted Common and passes through the National Trust Ashridge Estate. Runners join The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (CP1), continue roughly 13 km further to Wendover (CP2), then follow the Chiltern Way along more single-track and woodland before returning through Ashridge and descending back to Berkhamsted.

There are three full aid stations plus a water point at 11.9 km. Checkpoint locations include Beacon Road (water only, 11.9 km), Aldbury Sports Ground (17.7 km), Runaway HQ Wendover (30.8 km) and Wigginton Village Hall (41.4 km). Aid stations offer water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration products (pre-mixed electrolyte drink, gels and chews), selection of crisps and sweets, Chia Charge mini flapjacks and fresh fruit.

The race is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals at key points. Navigation backup via a GPX file is required. Maximum field 325 runners, overall time limit 9 hours. Entry is £75 (£73 UKA affiliated) with a discounted early price for the first 25 entrants; minimum age 20. Required equipment includes a mobile phone, route GPX and paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an additional dry long sleeve layer, head torch, and a refillable hydration system.
