Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail race starting and finishing at Berkhamsted Cricket Club on Saturday 31st October 2026. The route follows trails through Berkhamsted Common and National Trust Ashridge Estate, joins The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury and Wendover, then returns via the Chiltern Way and woodland single track back into Ashridge before a downhill finish into Berkhamsted. The course is fully marked and marshals are positioned at road crossings and busier sections.
The race covers 50K with approximately 800 m of elevation gain. There are three full checkpoints and one water point located at 11.9 km. Aid stations provide water, coke, electrolyte drink, gels, chews, snacks, flapjacks and fresh fruit. GPX and printed route maps are available and runners must carry a digital copy on watch or phone as backup.
Entry is open to runners aged 20 and over with no qualifying requirement. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and carries a UTMB World Series index. The field is limited to 350 runners and there is a nine hour overall time limit. Entries are priced at £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated). Required kit includes a mobile phone, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an additional dry layer, head torch, and a refillable hydration system of at least 0.5 L.
