Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K - Event details

The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is scheduled for Saturday 31st October 2026. It is a single-loop trail race starting and finishing at Berkhamsted Cricket Club. The course has about 800 m of elevation and a 9-hour time limit. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UK Athletics rules. Entry is open from 22nd November 2025; standard entry is £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners). The first 25 entries have a discounted price of £68 (£66 affiliated). Maximum field size is 325 runners and minimum age is 20. Dogs and canicross are not permitted. The race is listed as a UTMB World Series index race.

Route, aid stations and logistics

The route passes Berkhamsted Common, National Trust Ashridge Estate and joins The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (CP1). It continues another 13 km to Wendover (CP2), then follows the Chiltern Way on single-track and woodland paths back through Ashridge to the finish in Berkhamsted. The race is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons; marshals will be at key points and printed maps plus a GPX file are provided. There are three full aid stations and a water-only point at 11.9 km. Aid station supplies include water, coke, electrolyte drink, gels, chews, snacks, mini flapjacks and fresh fruit. Required kit includes a mobile phone with emergency number, GPX route and paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, extra layer, head torch, refillable hydration (0.5L min), and a reusable cup.
