Event overview

Run For Recovery is an organized, timed trail race at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area in Parkland County on August 27, 2026. The event is family friendly and open to runners and walkers of all abilities. Aid stations are located on course. Outhouses are onsite. The park remains open to the general public during the event. No dogs are allowed on the race course. Strollers and baby joggers are not permitted on the 12K course.

  • 12K - 50% technical single-track, 50% rolling Nordic track, ~350 m elevation change
  • 6K - 100% Nordic track, rolling hills
  • 3K - flat on double-wide trails
  • 1.2K - kids fun run, flat treed loop

Fees, kit, and awards

Standard fees are listed as $60 for the 12K and 6K, $40 for the 3K, and free for the 1.2K kids run. A reduced registration option is available when participants fundraise a minimum of $100 for a charity partner. The 12K, 6K, and 3K entries include event-branded swag. All finishers receive a medal. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in age categories (U15, Open, 55+) for the 12K and 6K, and for kids under 12 in the 3K; overall top male and female awards are given for the 12K and 6K.

Charity and fundraising

Proceeds from registration fees (less expenses, empties, and silent auction) are split equally between Our House Addiction Recovery Centre and McDougall House. Fundraising donations go directly to these two charity partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
