5 Peaks - Gold Bar

Edmonton, Canada • 26 Jul 2026

Event Overview

The 5 Peaks Gold Bar race is part of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series. It takes place at Gold Bar Park in Edmonton, along the North Saskatchewan River. This event is the third race in the series.

Gold Bar Park features hard pack trails, technical singletrack, and the steep Esso Hill. The route includes both wider trail sections and narrower singletrack, with climbs and descents between Gold Bar Park and Goldstick Park, and a loop out toward 50 Street before returning to the park.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 26th at Gold Bar Park. Washrooms are available at the start and finish area. Spectators are allowed, with the best viewing at the start and finish.

Parking at the venue is limited. The organizer advises carpooling when possible.

Distances and Course

Race distances include:

  • Kid’s Race - 1 km
  • Kid’s Race - 3 km
  • Sport Run or Hike - 6.4 km
  • Enduro Run or Hike - 12.9 km

Race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions up to race day.

The course starts with about 2 km of hard pack trail, then climbs toward Goldstick Park and enters singletrack. The first aid station is at the top of a steep climb. From there, the route returns by singletrack to Gold Bar Park, then heads toward 50 Street and loops back.

The organizer notes that the 3 km kid’s race uses singletrack and is described as one of the more demanding kid’s routes at this venue.

Event Services and Rules

The event is cup-free. Water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations, but no cups are provided. Participants need their own container if they expect to be on course for longer than one hour.

Swag and optional finisher medals are not included in basic entry; they can be purchased during registration or on site while supplies last.

An awards ceremony takes place after all results are compiled. Medals are given to the top three in each gender, in each age category, for each distance, and to the top three overall male and female finishers. All awards and swag must be collected at the event and are not mailed.

For safety, the following are not allowed on the race course: dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles (except in non-competitive hiking divisions). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
