5 Peaks - Gold Bar, Gold Bar Park

The event takes place at Gold Bar Park, east of downtown Edmonton along the North Saskatchewan River. The park includes hard pack trails, technical singletrack and Esso Hill. The area is used year round by people who visit the river valley.

The course begins with about 2 kilometres of hard pack trail that opens up before a climb toward Goldstick Park and entry to singletrack. The first aid station sits at the top of a steep climb. The route then flows back through singletrack to the park, continues out to 50 Street and loops back to the park. Race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions up to the day of the race.

Operational details included: the event is cup free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start, finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Washroom facilities are available at the start and finish area. Parking is limited and spectators are welcome with best viewing at the start and finish area.

Safety rules listed for the event: no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or baby joggers, and no nordic walking poles except in non-competitive hiking divisions. Awards include medals for the top three finishers by gender and age category in each distance and the top three male and female overall.
