5 Peaks - Gold Bar

This event is the third race of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series and takes place at Gold Bar Park along the North Saskatchewan River. The park features hard pack trails, technical singletrack and the notable Esso Hill. The area is used by locals year round.

Distances available:

  • Kid's Race - 1 km
  • Kid's Race - 3 km
  • Sport Run or Hike - 6.4 km
  • Enduro Run or Hike - 12.9 km

The course begins with about 2 kilometres of hard pack trail before climbing toward Goldstick Park and entering singletrack. The first aid station is located at the top of a steep climb. The route then flows back to the park, heads out to 50 Street and loops back to the park. Race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions.

Washroom facilities are available at the start finish area. Parking is limited and spectators will find the best viewing near the start finish. The race rules prohibit dogs, headphones and strollers on course; nordic walking poles are allowed only in non competitive hiking divisions.

The event is cup free. Water and electrolyte drinks are provided at the start finish and at one or more aid stations. Swag and optional finisher medals are available for purchase and must be picked up at the race. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender and age category per distance and to the top three male and female overall.
