5 Peaks - Gold Bar Park

The third race of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series takes place at Gold Bar Park, east of downtown Edmonton along the North Saskatchewan River. The park features hard pack trails, technical singletrack and the hill known as Esso Hill. The area is used by residents in both summer and winter.

The course begins with about 2 kilometres of hard pack trail with room to spread out before climbing toward Goldstick Park and entering singletrack. An aid station sits at the top of a steep climb. After that, the route returns to singletrack, flows back toward the park, travels out to 50 Street and loops back to the start area.

  • 12.9 km Enduro Run or Hike

Practical details provided: washrooms are available at the start/finish area, parking is limited and spectators are welcome. The event is cup free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start, finish and at one or more aid stations. Items not allowed on course include dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles except in non-competitive hiking divisions. Swag and optional finisher medals can be purchased and must be picked up at the race. Awards are given to top finishers by gender and age category. A backyard ultra held May 16, 2026 near Spruce Grove, Alberta with repeated 6.7 km loops that must start on the hour and finish within the hour. The event supports Olive Tree Projects through the River’s Edge Running Series.

A trail ultramarathon held May 30, 2026, in the Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area near Edmonton. Races span from 4 km kids events to 100 km, with ACU categories and fundraising partners.

Trail running in Whitemud Park with fast singletrack, bridge crossings and an Enduro loop of about 13.4 km. Multiple distances for kids and adults, cup free aid stations and on site swag and medal options.

A timed ultramarathon in Sherwood Park where runners cover as many laps as possible in set time limits. The event offers kids races, 6 hour, 12 hour, 24 hour and relay options and supports the Saffron Centre.
