Run A Muck Cross Country 5K and 10K
The Run A Muck Cross Country event is held on June 21, 2026 at Scholl Farms in Montague, Michigan, a private organic farm about three miles from Lake Michigan. The setting includes wooded trails and open fields on a working farm.
Course details include a farm-style cross country layout with natural and man-made obstacles. The 5K is mostly flat and includes water and mud jumps, hay bales, logs, and similar features. The 10K completes the 5K loop and then continues onto a second half with additional hills and more technical terrain. Dogs are allowed on course and there is a dedicated Dog Division; dogs must be on leashes for the 5K run and walk.
Distances
- 5K 3.1 Miles course with water and mud features
- 10K 6.2 Miles including additional hills and technical terrain
The event program also includes a 1K kids race, a sack race for participants aged 10 and older, an awards ceremony, and a potluck lunch with farm fresh produce. All finishers of the 1K, 5K, and 10K receive a white spruce seedling. Awards cover overall and age group categories for both distances, plus special awards for oldest, youngest, heaviest, and slowest.
Registration opens April 16 and closes May 31. Adult fees are listed at $30 and youth fees at $20. Team registration is available for groups of at least five athletes at $15 per athlete; contact the organizer for details. A tie-dyed long sleeve shirt may be purchased during registration for $18 if ordered before June 5, with a limited supply available on race day for $25.
Overnight camping is permitted the night before at no charge; a bonfire, water, and a porta-pottie will be available. Campers should note that large trailers and generators are not allowed. As this is an organic farm, participants are asked not to leave litter on the grounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
