Romancing the Island Half Marathon

Tiburon, United States • 11 Apr 2026

35th Annual Romancing the Island Half Marathon & 10K

The Romancing the Island event takes place at Angel Island State Park in Belvedere Tiburon, California. This trail race features a hilly loop course that circumnavigates the island, providing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. Total participation is limited to 400 runners.

Available distances include:

  • Half Marathon (two loops)
  • 10K (single loop)

The 10K welcomes both runners and walkers. A course cut-off time of 3.5 hours is in effect for all participants. For those completing the Half Marathon, the first loop must be finished within 1 hour and 30 minutes to continue.

Access to the event is provided via a special chartered ferry departing from the Tiburon ferry dock at 21 Main Street. Registration fees include the ferry fee for athletes, while tickets for spectators can be purchased separately at the dock.

The course is marked with orange ribbons at trail crossings and turns. There are no aid stations located on the course itself, though water and food are available at the finish line. Half Marathon participants have access to an aid station between their first and second loops. For safety reasons, the use of headphones or other audio devices is not permitted due to narrow trail sections. All participants receive a t-shirt, and medals are awarded to all Half Marathon finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
