Romancing the Island Half Marathon

Event Overview

The Romancing the Island Half Marathon & 10K is the 35th annual running of this event. It takes place on Angel Island in Angel Island State Park, near Belvedere Tiburon, California. The event includes a half marathon and a 10K race.

Course Details

The course is a hilly loop trail that circles Angel Island. Participants run on narrow trails in some sections. Runners can see views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County.

• The 10K is a single loop of the course.
• The half marathon consists of two loops.

There is a course cut-off time of 3.5 hours. Half marathon runners must complete their first loop within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Hikers and walkers are welcome to participate in the 10K.

Event Information

The race is limited to 400 participants. Registration pricing includes a mandatory ferry fee. A special chartered ferry for athletes departs from the Tiburon ferry dock at 21 Main Street in Tiburon. Spectators can take later ferries for a separate fee.

All participants receive a T-shirt. Top finishers in each age group receive personalized award ribbons by mail. All half marathon finishers receive a medal. There is no aid on the course, though water is available before the second loop for the half marathon. For safety on narrow trails, headphones and audio devices are not allowed.

Parking is available in Tiburon for a daily fee. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable, though a rollover credit may be available if requested by a specified date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
