Rise and Rebuild 5K Run / Walk

Lynchburg, United States • 28 Mar 2026

Event Overview

The Rise and Rebuild 5K Run / Walk is a fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026. It is the fourth annual 5K organized by the Free Clinic of Central Virginia. The event aims to raise funds to rebuild the clinic's Main Street location, which suffered extensive smoke damage from a nearby fire, so it can resume providing medical and dental services.

Event Format

Participants can choose from three event types:

  • 5K Run / Walk
  • Youth 5K Run / Walk (12 & Under)
  • VIRTUAL 5K (Run or Walk)

The event is capped at 450 total participants, with a cap of 375 for the in-person 5K. Race day registration is available if entries remain.

Location and Course

The race starts and finishes on the track at Linkhorne Middle School, located at 2525 Linkhorne Drive in Lynchburg, Virginia. The course is an out-and-back route that uses the paved Langhorne Road Bridge Trail Extension of the Blackwater Creek Bikeway. Strollers are prohibited on the course due to the width of the bikeway, and pets are also not allowed.

Registration and Fees

Standard registration for the 5K is priced at $30 until February 28, 2026, increasing to $35 from March 1-26, and $40 during packet pickup and on race day. Youth registration (12 & Under) is $15, which does not include a t-shirt; a shirt can be purchased separately for $15. Virtual participation is $30.

A $5 discount is offered to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members for participants aged 13 and older, available from October 31 until March 15, 2026. Assisted participants with disabilities and their pushers each pay half price for registration and receive a 3-5 minute advance start.

Fundraising Option

Participants can raise funds for the clinic to earn free registration and other incentives. Raising $250 grants free entry, $500 adds a pair of GOODR sunglasses, and $1,000 includes a $100 Riverside Runners gift card.

Packet Pickup and Amenities

Packet pickup is available on Friday, March 27, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Riverside Runners (2480 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg) and on race day from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM at the Linkhorne Middle School track. Participants who register by Tuesday, March 10, 2026, are guaranteed a t-shirt.
