Event Details
The Memorial Day 10K Run & 2 Mile Walk takes place on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Lynchburg, Virginia. It is organized by the Community Access Network (CAN) and is the seventh race in the 2026 Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series.
Distances
The event includes four separate activities:
- 10K: Open to participants aged 10 and older.
- 10K Assisted Participant
- 2 Mile Walk
- 2 Mile Walk - Assisted Participant
Course
The route starts in front of the DPO Grille at 10 9th Street. It proceeds up 9th Street, turns right onto Jefferson Street, and continues onto the Blackwater Bikeway Trail. Participants then go through a tunnel, take the Ed Page trail, cross over Blackwater Creek on a foot bridge, and continue to a designated turn-around point before returning via the same path to the finish.
Registration and Fees
Registration prices vary by date:
- 10K: Early registration is $30, increasing to $35 and then $40 closer to race day.
- 2 Mile Walk: Early registration is $25, increasing to $30. Registration for assisted participants is free without a t-shirt or $15 with a shirt. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. A $5 discount is available for current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members.
Packet Pickup
Participants can collect their race packets at Riverside Runners on Rivermont Avenue on the Friday and Saturday before the event. Race day pickup is available at the DPO Grille from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM.
What's Included
All 10K finishers receive a medal. A moisture-wicking, gender-specific t-shirt is guaranteed for 10K participants registered by May 1, 2026. The 2 Mile Walk participants receive a 100% cotton, unisex t-shirt under the same deadline.
Awards and Timing
The 10K is a chip-timed event using disposable bib technology. Awards are given for the top three overall male and female finishers, top masters (40+), and the top three in each age group. Age groups range from 10-12 up to 75 and over. There are no awards for the 2 Mile Walk.
