Courses and logistics
The 50k is a single loop that uses a mix of trails and forest service roads, including Jarrett Creek Rd, Star Gap Trail, Mill Creek Rd, Bernard Mtn Rd, Bernard Mtn Trail, Point Lookout Trail, Kitsuma Trail, Copper Ridge Trail, Rostan Trail, and Salt Gap Trail. Elevation change for the 50k is about 5,700 ft gain and 5,700 ft loss. The half marathon is a net downhill point-to-point trail race that loses about 2,600 ft over 13 miles, with roughly 1,200 ft of ascent for the distance. The 10k links new trails in the Old Fort Gateway system with about 750 ft of gain and 750 ft of loss.
Time limits are: 50k - 11 hours; Half - 4 hours; 10k - 2.5 hours. Aid stations: five on the 50k (mileages pending), two on the half (miles 5.6 and 9.5), and one on the 10k (mile 3). Half-marathon runners must use a shuttle to the start; there is no parking at the half start. Packet pickup is available Friday at Hillman Brewery (5pm-8pm) and on race morning at the start. Race rules require staying on marked trails, checking into aid stations, no pacers, and returning a bib if withdrawing. Spectators are allowed along Jarrett Creek Road and at the finish only.
