Table Rock Ultras

The event in Morganton, NC, features two trail races held at Steele Creek Park and Family Campground. Entry is restricted to participants age 18 and over. The races are permitted through the US Forest Service.

Distances:

  • 50K - summit of Table Rock Mountain and back.
  • 30K - follows same outbound course, then returns after the second aid station.

Course details for the 50K list a total vertical climb of about 5,700 ft and total vertical change of about 11,000 ft. The 50K course includes about 12 miles of single-track, 9 miles of double-track, and 10 miles of gravel. The 30K lists about 4,000 ft of climb and 8,000 ft of total vertical change, with roughly 8 miles of single-track, 9 miles of double-track, and 3 miles of gravel. The terrain includes roots, rocks, creek crossings, and technical sections.

Aid stations will offer at minimum water, Gatorade, assorted soft drinks, and a selection of foods such as chips, pretzels, cookies, M&Ms, gummi bears, trail mix, and PB&J. Organizers request that runners bring a water bottle or hydration bladder because cups will not be provided. Aid station locations are listed by mile for each distance.

All registered entrants receive a race T-shirt and post race food. Finishers of the 50K receive a hooded sweatshirt and 30K finishers receive a medallion. Primitive camping is available near the start within Steele Creek Park with reserved sites and a specified discount code for RV electrical hookups. If the in-person race is canceled, the event will move to a virtual format run on the actual course and no refunds, transfers, or deferrals will be given for a move to virtual.
