Reggie Oeltjen Douglas Trail 11 Mile Race

The Reggie Oeltjen Douglas Trail 11 Mile Race takes place on the Douglas State Trail at the Douglas Trailhead in Oronoco, Minnesota. The course runs on an asphalt rail trail that extends from northwest Rochester to Pine Island and is shaded by a canopy of trees for much of the route. The event marks the 50th anniversary of the Douglas Trail Race, which began in 1976.

The race distance is 11 miles and participants gather in Douglas to run along the trail. The event includes a race gift and post race refreshments, including watermelon. Packet pickup is held near the start on race morning.

The race was renamed in 2017 to honor Reggie Oeltjen, a longtime member and volunteer of the Rochester Running Club. Local businesses listed as sponsors include People's Food Co-Op, Taco Jed, Bloom Acai Cafe, Thesis Beer Project, and Cafe Aqui.

Information is provided for the Douglas Trailhead location and the event is organized in conjunction with the Rochester Running Club. Weather can vary; the route is primarily on paved surface beneath tree cover. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
