In Yan Teopa 5 & 10 Miler : Frontenac State Park

The In Yan Teopa trail race takes place at Frontenac State Park on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The event offers two distance options and runs through terrain that includes rolling prairies, tight single-track woods, and sustained climbs, with elevated views above Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River.

Participants may choose from these distances:

  • 5-mile course: rolling prairie, tight single-track, and climbs
  • 10-mile course: extended route with a mid-way aid station and similar terrain

Organizers operate the event as a cupless race to reduce waste; participants are asked to carry a water container or bottle. Water is available at the start/finish area and at the mid-way aid station on the 10-mile course. Aid stations provide water, fruit, and snacks. Restrooms are available at the start and finish areas.

Logistics note: the park has camping sites for RVs and tents and nearby hotels in Red Wing and Lake City are commonly used by attendees. Frontenac State Park is located at 29223 County 28 Blvd, Frontenac, MN, about 10 miles southeast of Red Wing and 5 miles northwest of Lake City on Highway 61. Park admission applies, and runners and volunteers are asked to use the lot near the top of the park.

If a runner must leave the race, the procedure is to remove the bib and hand it to an aid station volunteer or the race director; leaving the course without notifying officials may affect future participation. The organizing company states a commitment to inclusion and to building events where participants and volunteers feel welcome and safe.
