Rathfinny Run

The Rathfinny Run (10.7km and Half marathon)

The Rathfinny Run is held on the grounds of Rathfinny Wine Estate in the South Downs National Park. The event offers two looped trail distances around the estate:

  • 10.7 km single loop
  • 21.4 km double loop

Each loop is an undulating off road trail of approximately 220 metres elevation. The course is mainly grass trail with sections of hard track and wooded paths, and it includes cambers, tree roots, switchbacks and a coned gap near a pumping station. Distance markers appear every 2 km.

Aid is provided at the 5 km marker and at the start and finish, with water, fruit and vegan flapjack or malt loaf; no cups will be supplied. Chip timing is used and results are reported on gun time. Recycled slate medals are awarded to all finishers; trophies and bottles of Sussex Sparkling wine are given to top finishers in each category. The event operates as a carbon neutral, cup-less event with no single use plastics and offers 30 free charity places to raise funds for the WOLO Foundation.

Race day logistics include marshalled and clearly marked routes, portable toilets, a bag drop at the start at participants' own risk, a shuttle bus from Berwick station and first aid cover. Runners should bring appropriate trail footwear and a spare change of clothes since there are no changing facilities on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
