The Rathfinny Run

The Rathfinny Run takes place on 10 May 2026 at The Tasting Room, Rathfinny Wine Estate, Alfriston, Polegate (BN26 5TU). The event offers two distances:

  • 10.7 km - single loop
  • 21.4 km - double loop (half marathon)

The event is carbon neutral, avoids single-use plastics and is supporting the WOLO Foundation by offering 30 free charity spaces. An Association of Running Clubs permit has been applied for.

Course, facilities and rules

The course is an undulating 10.7 km off-road loop through the vineyard. Half marathon runners complete two loops. Each loop has approximately 220 metres of elevation and distance markers every 2 km. The surface is mainly grass trail with some hard track and wooded sections; runners should expect cambers, bumps, exposed tree roots, tight switchbacks and a coned area by a pumping station. Organisers advise choosing trail-appropriate footwear and note the route may be muddy if wet.

Race HQ is at the start/finish near the Tasting Room. There will be portable toilets, a bag drop at the start (left at participant risk), and aid stations with water, fruit and vegan flapjack or malt loaf at the 5 km marker and the start/finish. No disposable cups will be provided. Recycled medals will be given to all finishers and trophies and bottles will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each distance. First aid will be available at the finish, marshals will mark and staff the route, and a sweep marshal will follow the last runner. Dogs are prohibited and in-ear or over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conducting audio is allowed. Parking rules include free parking for cars with two or more runners and a nominal charge for single-occupancy cars, with proceeds donated to WOLO.
