Bewl Water Spring

Bewl Water Spring is a multi distance trail running event organised by Hermes Running at Bewl Water reservoir near Lamberhurst, Kent. The series is held bi‑annually and the routes run around the reservoir through wooded areas and open countryside.

All courses start and finish beside the main Bewl Water Visitor Centre and follow the clockwise round‑the‑reservoir route where much of the running is on undulating rural wooded trail and on some quiet country lanes.

Distances

  • Bewl Water Ultra 50km / 31.25 mile two 12.4‑mile loops and a 6.45‑mile loop
  • Bewl Water Marathon 26.2 mile out and back 1.4 mile then two 12.4‑mile loops
  • Bewl Water Half Marathon 13.1 mile out and back 0.7 mile then one 12.4‑mile loop
  • Bewl Water 10km out and back route with a marshalled turnaround

Event support and services include bespoke race medals, slate awards for the top three male and female finishers in each distance, professional chip timing with provisional results, well stocked checkpoints, marked and marshalled routes, professional photography available to purchase for £10 each, marshalling support from RAF Air Cadets and first aid from KLP Medical Supplies Ltd.

Trail runs nearby

Pretty Muddy 5k at Mote Park in Maidstone features a muddy obstacle course around the lake with some steep inclines. Participants aged 13 and over receive fundraising support, event materials and a medal on completion.

Two off road races around Bewl Water on 5 July 2026 organised by Wadhurst Runners. The 15 mile route includes the nature reserve and a four hour time limit; finishers receive a medal, t shirt and refreshments.

A muddy 5k obstacle event at Beckenham Place Park with climbing, crawling and sliding on a grassy, undulating course. Waves start every 15 minutes; participants must be 13 or older and fundraising supports Cancer Research UK.

A 7-mile multi-terrain race through Knole Park with a chip-timed 3.5 km junior run for ages 9 to 15. Profits support The Running Charity and the event includes medals, free photos and prizes for top finishers.
