Bewl 15 & 5 Mile

Organised by Wadhurst Runners, the Bewl 15 & 5 Mile event takes place on 5 July 2026 at Bewl Water, Wadhurst, East Sussex (Blacksmiths Lane, TN5 6AZ). There are two race options:

  • 15 Mile
  • 5 Mile

Route and practical information

The 15 Mile route is the round Bewl Water trail. It begins in Wadhurst, descends to join the round Bewl route, includes a nature reserve with lakeside views, has gently undulating sections along the shore and a shorter hilly section on quiet lanes. There is a 4 hour time limit for the 15 mile race. The 5 Mile follows the first 2.5 miles of the 15 mile route before returning along the same trail and is entirely off road.

Race HQ is located in a field off Blacksmiths Lane. Parking is available locally but not at Race HQ; parking is weather dependent and free parking is listed as included. The event supports the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex; the 2025 race raised £6,200 for the charity. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a commemorative Bewl t-shirt; trophies are awarded to leading runners. On-the-day entry fees (subject to availability) are £40 for the 15 mile and £25 for the 5 mile. Cash prizes for the 15 mile: £100 for first male and female (rising to £200 if the course record is broken), £75 for second, £50 for third. Marshals are present on the course and post-race provisions include cake and beer for finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
