LDWA South Downs Marathon

The LDWA South Downs Marathon is a challenging 28-mile event held in the South Downs National Park, starting at East Dean Village Hall near Eastbourne. Participants face over 4,000 feet of ascent, traversing stunning landscapes including the Seven Sisters cliffs, Cuckmere Haven, Firle Beacon, and picturesque downland villages such as Littlington, Firle, and Alfriston. A shorter 18-mile route with 3,000+ feet of ascent is also available, omitting some sections. The event welcomes walkers and runners aged 18 and over, with a 10-hour time limit. It features multiple checkpoints with refreshments, a certificate for finishers, and a light meal at the finish, emphasizing safety and self-navigation. The Mince Pie 10 is a festive 10 mile mixed terrain run in Peacehaven, with fancy dress, seasonal music and mince pies at the finish. Fun, muddy miles and a recycled medal await while supporting local children's and hospice charities.
