Ras yr Aran Fell Race
Ras yr Aran is a fell race held as the third and final event in the Meirionnydd Winter Race Series. The adult course covers a distance with substantial ascent and is listed in categories AM/LK/PM/NS/SER.
- 10 miles with 3,100 feet of ascent
- 3.25 km with 150 metres of ascent; minimum age 11 on the day
The lower reaches of the adult course use a mixture of well marked tracks and footpaths. The open fells above are unmarked and the high mountain terrain can be featureless. Runners are exposed at high altitude for an extended period and weather conditions can be varied and often adverse; navigational skills may be necessary.
