Ramona Wine Country 5K

The Ramona Wine Country 5K is a trail race held at BackCountry Gardens in Ramona, California. The event takes place on an all-terrain course that features a mix of natural elements, including hills, streams, boulders, and sections of mud. The primary route consists of a two-loop course totaling 5 km, with an option for participants to complete a single loop if preferred.

Participants can choose from several event categories:

  • 5K Competitive Heat for individuals.
  • 5K Competitive Heat for Cross Country teams of at least three members.
  • 5K Fun Run for individuals and teams, which is not timed.
  • 1 Mile Beer Mile for individuals and relay teams.

The 5K events are open to various ages, though participants between 8 and 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the race due to the nature of the terrain. The Beer Mile requires participants to be at least 21 years old and involve drinking a beer before running each of the four 400-meter laps.

Registration includes a finisher's medal, race swag, and on-site parking. Following the runs, a wine tasting is provided at Ramona Ranch Winery, located across the road from the race site. Food from Farmhouse 78 is available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from the event supports Operation Rebound, a program benefiting veterans and first responders with permanent physical injuries.
