South Bay 24 takes place at Montgomery Waller Community Park in San Diego, a few miles from Imperial Beach and Chula Vista. The event uses a 1.22 mile loop that combines trail, grass, and bike path surfaces. The course is largely flat with about 46 feet of elevation gain per loop. For 2026 the course direction is counter clockwise. The 2026 running will be the event's fifth annual edition.

The loop format means 82 laps equal 100 miles. Oncourse aid is available throughout the event with water and electrolyte drinks and scheduled snack windows overnight and daytime. Typical aid offerings include bagels, donuts, peanut butter sandwiches, potatoes, pretzels, trail mix, cookies, popsicles, sodas, lemonade and iced tea. Hot water is available during limited night hours while supplies last.
Event features for registered runners include a dedicated runner campsite area next to the course, a pancake breakfast, a social happy hour, beer and seltzers, event shirts and medals, trucker hats included with registration, and belt buckles awarded to all 100 mile finishers. A $1500 purse prize may be awarded to the first runner to reach 125 miles. The event is sanctioned by USATF San Diego. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
