Race to the Top of Mt. Umunhum
The Race to the Top of Mt. Umunhum is a point-to-point Half Marathon held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Hacienda Entrance of Almaden Quicksilver County Park in San Jose, CA. The course finishes at the summit area and covers approximately 13.35 miles with a total ascent of 4,767 feet.
The route is marked primarily with single solid pink ribbons, orange cones, signs, and gypsum. Runners should note there are no pink ribbons for a 1.8 mile stretch on the Barlow Trail from Mile 8.2 to Mile 9.9; ribbons resume at the aid station at Mile 9.9. There are no ribbons to the half marathon finish, but signs are placed starting three miles from the finish.
Aid stations and toilets are available at the start and at key points on course: Hacienda Parking Lot (Mile 0.0), Woods Parking Lot Aid Station (Mile 5.3), and the Mt. Umunhum & Barlow Trail Intersection Aid Station (Mile 9.9). The event enforces a six hour time limit for all distances.
Volunteers are needed to staff aid stations; volunteers receive a credit toward a future race. Entry fees and registration are handled by the organizer, with an online option available before the event and in-person registration on race day.
